Standing at the Crossroads: 25th Black Management Association Conference
Over the past few months I’ve had the privilege of serving on Kellogg’s Black Management Association’s (BMA) Conference Planning Committee, and it’s truly been a rewarding experience. The BMA Conference is Kellogg’s longest running student-led forum, and we are celebrating our 25th year in 2012! I would like to formally invite all prospective students and members of the class of 2014 to join us as we celebrate this momentous occasion. Registration and travel information can be found here.
This year’s conference theme is aptly titled Standing at the Crossroads: Building on the Past to Execute for the Future. I believe that we have reached a fork in the road of history both globally and domestically. In the United States, the winner of the 2012 presidential election will determine America’s path for potentially the next decade. The world’s population recently reached 7 billion. How do we feed, educate and provide healthcare to 7 billion souls with limited or shrinking global resources? How can small businesses and entrepreneurship revitalize the global economy? These are questions that our generation will be charged with answering within the next 20 years.
We’ll get the conversation started at the BMA conference with panels on entrepreneurship in the new global economy, social media’s applications in multicultural marketing, and we’ll end with a discussion on corporate social responsibility, its impact in the community, and ways to measure success.
Keynote addresses will be given by Edith Cooper (‘86), Global Head of Human Capital Management, at Goldman Sachs and Dwight Hutchins (‘91), Global Managing Director, Health Public Service Strategy, at Accenture. I’m looking forward to listening to these very successful alums and I can’t wait to hear their thoughts on the key issues facing business today and where they see the world headed.
The conference is open to everyone. I hope to see you all there.
