Night Owl's Revenge

Thankful for a Break…

Happy (belated) Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you all enjoyed the holiday with family and friends! Unfortunately I wasn’t able to go home this year but I had a great time with friends in Evanston. Dean Blount hosted a free dinner at the Allen Center for students, staff, and their families that couldn’t travel home for the holiday. Even though I missed my family I kept traditions alive by eating an obscene amount of food, watching football, and catching up with friends, old and new. As the title of my posts suggests, I was VERY thankful for the break in classes. I caught up on some much needed sleep and started studying for finals (yikes!).

I can’t believe that I only have another week of classes before finals and the end of my first term of business school! Just four months ago I went shopping with a friend at lunch and received that wonderful call from admissions welcoming me to Kellogg! I spent some time this week reflecting on my experiences so far and I can tell that I’m growing…I’m very happy with all that has happened, from struggling through a cross-country move on short notice to re-acclimating to life as a student. As a matter of fact, what surprised me the most was how difficult it’s been transitioning back into life as a student. For younger candidates, this may not be a problem, but it’s been a while since I’ve had to pull very long nights looking at textbooks and problem sets. With that said, my professors, classes, and classmates have challenged me in every way possible and I feel blessed to have this opportunity.

Sadly, all good things come to an end, including Thanksgiving break. Over the past few days my professors have started emailing their classes about upcoming assignments due this week, and have provided updates on review sessions for finals.

Sigh, winter break starts in 2 weeks…almost there…

P.S. - Congrats to all of you who have submitted R1 applications! I hope you get a call within the next few weeks. If you are working towards those looming round 2 deadlines, hang in there! You are almost at the finish line…until school starts and the race begins again!
